In the morning of March 10^th 2019, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 passenger jet to Nairobi crashed shortly after takeoff from Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa. The message issued by the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia at 21:15 has confirmed there was no survivor among 157 passengers on board.

Zhou Yuan (male, born in October 1981, has worked in CETC since July, 2004）, was confirmed on the crashed plane. He was travelling  from Beijing to Nairobi, Kenya via Addis Ababa on business. CETC extends profound condolences to the victims including Zhou Yuan and deep sympathy to the bereaved families.

CETC has set up an working group immediately after the crash to handle this emergency. At present,a CETC mission team has arrived in Addis Ababa and will continue to work properly under the leadership of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia.
